I’ve spoken before about what good care my mother would take of us growing up when we were sick — the small gestures, the loving care, meeting all of our needs (even if we were just home with a cold!). Her example gave me a benchmark of sorts when my own children have been sick, had surgery, or had multiple hospital visits. It’s scary for us as parents to see our children at their most vulnerable, but it’s also such a scary time for them.
